Description
The Crook o' Lune is a sharp bend in the River Lune which runs down to Morecambe Bay through the city of Lancaster. It is a popular local beauty spot which attracts considerable numbers of leisure seekers for picnics and other recreations in the summer months. The road bridge between the villages of Caton and Halton is shown, an old disused railway bridge being hidden behind it. now being a frequently used thoroughfare for walkers and cyclists. The painter, Turner, depicted the bend in the river from a hillside nearby.
