Description
This title is the first line of a national song (not the National Anthem) of the Isle of Man, the island nation in the middle of the British Isles which fiercely holds on to its identity, dating back into the mists of time. This is the home of my ancestors. When one leaves the island by ferry from Douglas for England - which used to be sometimes in the early evenings as is the case here, heading south-east - native Manx people often have powerful feelings of nostalgia, especially if they do not expect to return for some time, as they look back towards the west, to Douglas promenade, and beyond.
This view, taken from the ferry deck, shows an extraordinary cloud image which reflects the setting sunlight opposite, in the west.
