Description
The view here is of the ruin of the Asklepion, or healing temple, of Kos, one of many which were spread throughout the ancient Greek world, and named after the Greek God of Medicine, Asclepius. It overlooks the Aegean Sea in the Mediterranean and has a spectacular view towards the Turkish coast. What makes this one special is that it is thought to be where Hippocrates (approximately 5th century BC), 'The Father of Western Medicine', was trained and that he was born on the island. The Hippocratic Oath has been a foundation of medical ethics over the centuries.
