This abstract painting, when I thought about it, brought to mind feelings of joy, hope and a sense of victory of good over evil. I wasn't thinking about it at the time.I recognise that thoughts can shackle the creative mind. In my case, this means that my more adventurous work is done early in the morning before I start to think!

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
