This view from above, on a beach we where we stayed one holiday in the south of England, is deceptive in its relative simplicity: I loved the textures, not least the weather-worn, bleached wood. However, it is also the kind of beach where sea-worn, semi-precious stones are overlooked, such as agate and jasper.

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England.
