This view, from the city of Lancaster in the north west of England, is of Morecambe Bay and the Lakeland Fells (mountains) in the county of Cumbria. The beauties of the Lake District were extolled at the turn of the nineteenth century by the lake poets Wordsworth, Coleridge and Southey.

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England.
