Artist's Description
St Peter's Church, Heysham, is ancient and is thought to have elements of the original 7th or eighth century Saxon building within it. Heysham itself is a coastal village which has extended and encroaches on the nieghbouring town of Morecambe, in North West Lancashire, England. As a ferry port it has services for the Isle of Man and Ireland. It is well known in the area - and not uncommonly on calendars! - for the carpet of crocuses there in spring.
About Nigel Radcliffe
I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
