My home church of St Paul was built mainly in Victorian times, but its foundation was before 1230 AD and some features of the tower are from that time. It sits at the focal point of the village of Brookhouse, part of the parish of Caton-with-Littledale. Behind are moors which can become covered in heather and in the forefront is the floodplain of the River Lune which is behind the viewer. What a privilege it is to live in such a beautiful part of north Lancashire, England.

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England.
