'Ruskin's View' is that from near the parish church of Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria, in the North of England. This image is part of the panoramic view towards the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, which the art critic, social theorist, poet and painter, John Ruskin, referred to as 'one of the loveliest views in England and therefore the world.' It was also painted by Turner.
About Nigel Radcliffe
I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
