Artist's Description

This imagined scene, of the stag of a red deer, painted in acrylics with added collage and the seeming influence of different sources: the stag in Landseer's 'Monarch of the Glen', Chinese landscapes and even early European masters. I hope the final product has some cohesiveness and atmosphere.

Nigel Radcliffe

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
