This is the wedding group of my maternal grandparents on 15th September 1909 in the Isle of Man at the centre of the British Isles. I have tinted the photograph digitally but delicately, in the style of that carried out by hand at the time. My grandfather was one of generations of farmers on both sides of my family and this continues to this day. He was a local (lay) preacher in the Methodist Church. He died when I was still an infant but I would love to have known him and I realise what an influence his values were on the whole family.

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
