This photograph, while it was taken by me in Tunisia on the edge of the Sahara Desert some years ago, In my view it quite well represents the story of the wise men searching for the Christ Child.The story in St Matthew's Gospel says " Wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, asking 'Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews'?"

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England.
