Artist's Description
The morning star is a name given to the planet Venus which appears as a bright star low in the sky in the hours before sunrise. My painting shows it set against the full moon which is moving into the starry darkness.The whole view - seen as if from lying on the ground turned out to be very much in the colours and to some extent the style of Vincent van Gogh, though I did not set out with him consciously in mind! One is reminded of his 'Starry Night' painting.
About Nigel Radcliffe
I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
