This image, while taken from a photograph which I caught on one of my walks before breakfast on holiday, reminds me of the cold but refreshing breeze blowing off the sea as the sun rose. The folded sail of the boat flapped in the wind. Mont Orguiel Castle overlooks the harbour of Gorey on the east coast of the island of Jersey in the Channel Islands. It is known as Gorey Castle in the English version of its name.
About Nigel Radcliffe
I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
