This view is from the north coast of the Isle of Man in the middle of the Irish Sea, in the British Isles, looking round the bay towards North Barrule. It is near the farm where my mother was born and brought up and so has nostalgic associations, both for that reason as well for the fact that the island is the land of my birth after many generations of ancestry there.

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England.
