Artist's Description

This view of the ruins of Hore Abbey, County Tipperary, Eire, is from the Rock of Cashel where St Patrick is said to have converted the King of Munster to Christianity in the 5th century. The abbey was a cistercian monastery. The shades of green remind us of the significance of this colour in the culture of the Irish people.

Nigel Radcliffe

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
