Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

This stark image of a deserted farmyard in my homeland, the Isle of Man, pleases my own eye in its geometrical composition but also in its associations with my childhood. There is a sense of a presence of my ancestral heritage in the absence of any sign of life.
Oral tradition has been that the building on the right was the original farmhouse and that it was a stopping off point for refreshment by John Wesley in one of his two visits to the island in 1777 or 1781.
My interest in classic photographers leads me to think that there is a similarity to the work of Walker Evans here, in the simple yet uncompromising architecture. I may also, in fact, be influenced by my fellow Manxman, Chris Killip, who includes superb monochrome images of mills and vernacular architecture in his early book ' Isle of Man: A Book about the Manx' (1980). He has published an update of this, 'Isle of Man Revisited' (2015). He is now Professor of Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard University.
I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
