Artist's Description
Although this picture was taken some years ago, I feel it is worthy of inclusion in my portfolio because of the sheer vibrancy, not of the photograph itself, but of the spirit of the Irish people, especially in this beautiful south-western part of the Dingle peninsula, arguably the most westerly point of Europe. The hardware shop is spilling over with goods, as is the goodwill of the locals in the tourist trade.
About Nigel Radcliffe
I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
