The ruins of the Asclepeion in Kos, one of the Dodecanese Islands of the Aegean belonging to Greece, is famed as one of the earliest institutions of healing and the place where Hippocrates - sometimes referred to as 'The Father of Western Medicine' - is said to have received his medical training. It enjoys a superb position, facing Bodrum on the coast of Turkey.

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
