The small town of Ventnor on the Isle of Wight, off the south coast (but part) of England, is the quintessentially traditional British holiday resort, being especially attractive in its intimate and friendly atmosphere. It has more sunny days than much of the British Isles thus allowing Botanic Gardens to thrive with subtropical plants.
In the tradition of collage pictures, The cabin is that of Mr Blake who hires out beach huts. I have used scraps of newspapers and magazines - anyone for a boat made out of a wardrobe?

I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
