Artist's Description
This sheltered spot, while only a few miles from my home in Lancashire in the north of England, is a patch of moorland likely to be rarely visited except by those who might by shooting grouse, the game birds, nearby, but only legally after the 'Glorious Twelfth' (of August). This view shows the thick heather growing alongside a glittering rivulet which plunges downwards eventually to reach larger streams on their way to join the River Lune and finally Morecambe Bay to the west.
About Nigel Radcliffe
I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England. My Christian faith underlies what I do in art as in the rest of my life. I am a retired clinical psychologist and am married with children and grandchildren.
