Description
I made this sculpture many years ago and am only now getting round to posting it. It is a shame that it does not show it in its three-dimenional form as it is - though I say it myself - all the more fascinating from different angles. In fact, I cannot claim responsibility for its shape at all as it is based on a pebble from a beach from the north of England and it truly had the holes bored through it by the sea as shown. My version is made from plaster and is 11 inches high, the original being about two inches. It was made in an evening class and I could not have made it without the expertise of the tutor. Without intention, I have named it 'After' (Barbara) Hepworth', as I believe it is similar to her work, which I admire. She was closely associated with Henry Moore, that other magnificent creator of twentieth century sculpture from the north of England.
