Description
Herewith the balcony of the harem of the virtually abandoned Kasbah (fortress) Telouet in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. As this is one of many images which have been restored from slides which were taken a good number of years ago, I suspect that the balcony may have fallen into further dilapidation or collapsed altogether by now. The harem was reserved for women as a 'modest, inviolable'place, though mainly western artistic representations have made it more exotic.
