Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

This extraordinary row of trees (unknown species, I'm afraid) must have grown away from a prevailing wind in the Grand Harbour of Valletta, Malta, on the right-hand side of the picture. The scene is in the Lower Barrakka Gardens. Malta, a distinctive island state in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, with a strong British history but now firmly independent.
The symmetry of the trees is echoed in the columns of the neoclassical Greek temple erected in memory of Sir Alexander Bell, first British Commissioner of Malta, in 1810.
Sadly, I can find no evidence that the trees exist any longer, my painting being based on a photograph I took many years ago.
I was born a Manxman - a native of the Isle of Man in the centre of the British Isles - and my heritage from there sometimes brings a Celtic element to my work. However, another side of my personality has often been expressed in my acrylic painting and photography in a more extraverted, Mediterranean way. This has no doubt been influenced by the fact that I have travelled through Europe and elsewhere in the past, but I have come to look for inspiration nearer to my home in recent years in a beautiful part of the north of England.
