Description
The origin of this image lay in a series of vivid dreams which I had some years ago in which I became aware that there was a theme of an absence of reality from the material world of which we could not normally be aware. This was similar to the concept which is picked up by the artist, Magritte, in which he paints, for example, a shape of a dove but with clouds showing through it. Scientist and theologians over the centuries have recognised that there is some deep yet elusive truth in this and is reflected in the ideas of Martin Luther of the idea of the masks of God, for instance.
The visual illusion here is not original but the triangle is apposite to my own position as a Christian in reflecting the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. An absence of manifest significance was the Empty Tomb when Jesus arose from the Dead.
The image here in itself creates a presence of a second triangle - out of an absence.
